The pipeline
This page adds up the stated megawatts on the map and groups them by how far each scheme has got: running, being built, consented, or still only proposed. It counts what is on the public record and does not try to predict what gets built. Stated size is capacity on paper, not the electricity a site draws day to day, and plenty of these schemes will not happen.
980 MW
operating today (62 sites)
2,030 MW
under construction, consented, or proposed
2.1×
more capacity coming than is running now
Capacity by build maturity
≈3,010 MW stated across 87 sites (campus overlays and closed sites excluded).
- Operating 980 MW · 62
- Under construction 386 MW · 7
- Consented, not built 808 MW · 13
- Proposed 836 MW · 5
Where it is heading
The running capacity sits in the old west (Slough) and east (Docklands) clusters; the largest proposed schemes are pushing out to the north and east M25 fringe.

How to read this
- Maturity is our read, not the planning status. The map holds most sites at
proposeduntil a lasting portal URL is linked; this view uses a separate judgement of what is actually running. See methodology. - Figures are stated size (nameplate/contracted MW), not electricity drawn. Load factor is unknown.
- Some large sites disclose no megawatts, including Google Waltham Cross and Microsoft Park Royal (under construction), so real capacity is higher than shown.
- Campus overlays are excluded to avoid double-counting; closed sites are excluded from the totals.
